MashaFragrance.com Progress Update 05/04 May 4, 2009
I wanted to give everyone a peek into our progress so far. I can say that I have been very pleased with the progress we are making on the site. So far we have focused our efforts on building correctly formatted and targeted meta tags and doing some generic link building. There is some new content in the way of brand information and articles that will be going on the site over the next week or two. We will use this content to promote mashafragrance.com in all of the social bookmarking and social news sites.
Here are the ranking and traffic changes we have seen so far:
On 04/01 the site did not rank in the top 300 for any of the three generic keyword phrases that we targeted as relevant, very competitive and having a large amount of search traffic :
men’s cologne, women’s perfume, perfume and cologne
On 04/22 we started ranking in Google for the generic terms we were targeting. I guess we could have tried for easier phrases but what fun would that be.
- #63 in Google for men’s cologne
- #77 in Google for women’s perfume
- #83 in Google for perfume and cologne
Now today on 05/04 here is where we stand:
- #25 in Google for men’s cologne
- #32 in Google for women’s perfume
- #25 in Google for perfume and cologne
As you can tell, we have made some huge progress so far. I really believe we will slide these up quite a bit further over the next 3 weeks. Since we focused on broad generic phrases we have seen huge changes in long tail searches as well:
- #10 for adidas women’s perfume
- #9 for buy cologne men
Overall traffic has tripled since we started the project! The next move is to get the content in place, build out some more meta data and get the social media marketing underway. I will give you all an update about 3 weeks from now!
