5 Business Card Design Tips
A great design for your business card can translate directly into profits for your business. Business people who have a good business card will immediately get attention for their business whenever they hand out the card. A good card will inspire people to follow the information on the card to place a call to the business or to check out the company’s website. These actions lead to increased sales. So how do you create a great business card?
Here are five business card design tips that are worth following:
- Make sure your card clearly indicates what you do. The name of your business or the title of your position may make this clear. If not then you should include a one-line descriptive slogan on the card so that anyone who takes the card will know exactly what product or service you can provide for them.
- Use a unique but easy-to-read font. It’s nice to make your business card stand out from others. An easy way to do this is to choose a unique font for your card’s text. However, it still needs to be highly readable so that the information on the card is easy to understand.
- Add your photo to the card. Many businesses use a logo on the card to make a visual impact. A better choice is to include your own headshot on the card. People are used to seeing this now because of your profile images on social networking sites. Adding this to your business card reinforces what they will see when you communicate with them online. Plus this makes you seem more approachable.
- Print on both sides of the business card. New technology has made it possible to print on both sides of a business card and to still keep your printing costs down. There are several reasons that this is good. For one thing, it looks better. Another reason is that you can include a lot more information without crowding the design of the card. Still another reason is that double-sided printing allows you to show off both a professional side and a more creative side back-to-back.
- Hire a graphic designer to create your business card. Although there are many programs out there that allow you to design your own business card, this is really something that is better left to the professionals. There are design tricks that appeal to consumers that you simply aren’t going to know unless this is what you do for a living.
Of course, these tips are only useful if you’re active about handing out your business card. Once you’ve got a good card make sure that you use it!
