3 Must-Follow Rules for an Effective Social Networking Profile
There are many, many different things that you can do to improve your social networking profile. The things that will be most effective will depend greatly on your industry, your audience and your own personal style. However, there are three must-follow rules for anyone who wishes to make sure that their social networking profile is an effective one.
Number one, you absolutely must keep your social networking profiles up to date. Social networking allows you to continuously reach out to your audience. The more you appropriately remind them that you’re out there, the more likely it is that they will remember you. Regular updates allow you to provide information, boost your relevant content on the social networking site and develop bonds with your readers. Most importantly, regular updates on your social networking sites show that you are serious and passionate about your business.
The second must-follow rule for a good social networking profile is to stay relevant. Think about your audience and make sure that every item that you post on your site is relevant to their interests. Think about the mission of your business and make sure that every update you post on your social networking sites is relevant to that mission. There is a lot of extraneous information that you could choose to post on your social networking sites. Don’t. Stay relevant!
Finally, you absolutely must contribute to the social networking community that you are a part of. You’ll be doing this naturally with your regular relevant updates, of course, so keeping up with this rule should be too much of a stretch. However, truly being a member of the community goes beyond just your own updates. Offer advice, comments and assistance to other people who are posting relevant information on the site. These sites are all about the power of the community on the site.
The specific tips for promoting yourself will vary depending upon your industry and your social networking goals. However, these three rules are must-follow rules regardless of what industry in. If you’re going to have an effective social networking profile that it must be updated regularly with relevant information and you must contribute non-promotional assistance to others in the community. Do that and you’re well on your way to making social networking work for you!
